You're being too hard on yourself, & your co-worker is rather presumptuous.
You know what it is now, so .... what's the big deal ?
As a parent worry about where your child is when not at home or school, who they hang out with & what they do when you're not around ... these things define a better parent .. not whether or not you know as much about PC technology.
FYI : learning about the new technology is as easy as reading a Best Buy flyer ... wish learning about good parenting was that easy ...lol.
sincere regards,

"suited for a severe college pupil" is an extremely vast type. they don't make laptops for top college scholars. in certainty, they don't in all probability make laptops for any specific want in any respect, apart from gaming (which demands fairly severe end processors and pictures enjoying cards) and 3-D modeling (it fairly is extremely the comparable standards as gaming, yet they use diverse pictures drivers). Now, interior the $500 variety, you're extremely limited. an excellent variety of the fairly sturdy laptops start up at approximately $800. And there is not in all probability a such element as a large-astounding deal on a working laptop or computing device. You tend to get what you pay for. do not assume to play too many video games on any computer you get. the finest element to get may be a Netbook. Netbooks are small laptops, with displays under 12". they're the main inexpensive computers obtainable, with the worst aspects being bought immediately. besides the undeniable fact that, they're fairly very easy to hold around so in case you have a working computing device at domicile, a netbook makes an excellent secondary computing device. you could additionally get the decrease-end greater laptops, alongside with Dell's Inspiron line or HP's Pavilion g6t. Of the two, i might choose for the Dell- HP's customer laptops have a recognition for breaking a lot.

The older parents are the less they know. My parents are in there 50's and barly know how todo more than run programs. A kid at the age of ten knows how to run a computer proficiently now awadays. I guesse you have to grow up with the technology to be fully use to it and all possible features and cope with upgrades.

If you've never seen one used how would you know? I'm about your age and first learned about computers in college. Now kids are learning to use computers at birth and everyone no matter how dumb goes to college. We have to keep up with technology or we will be totally lost.

Parents are practically are.
Kids have more time to explore their environment and they do not have anything to worry about like what to eat for the next day.
While parents have a lot of things to do like work and work.
Try letting your own kid explain everything he knows about tech.

Parents really don't know much about technology. The younger generations tends to be ahead in the technology type stuff.
