At about 7 or 8 weeks, the doctor had me come in for a dating ultrasound. The sonographer was kinda irritable, and seemed like she had something more important to do.She got me in there really fast, and out really fast. She was only looking at how big the fetus is and how much amniotic fluid was in there and then checked to see if there was a heartbeat. She didn't take her time at all.Regardless, I know exactly when the first day of my last period was, and according to that my due date should be May 26th, however she stated that the baby was smaller than that and actually got a tone with me about was I sure when my last period was!She changed my due date back to May 30th.I'm at the end of my 18th week right now.I was so pissed off, that I put the picture in my coat and stormed off and really haven't looked at it much since, because I know that at 20 weeks I will get another U.S.I just looked at it again, and it looks like there is a second baby! Is it possible that she missed something?

This will be my third pregnancy, so it's not like I have no clue about ultrasounds or anything! Twins don't run in my or my husband's family.

Maybe. Talk to your doctor at your next appointment and bring the picture with you. Definitely explain what happened and see if you can request a different ultrasound tech next time

Ha! SOME doctors and other health care workers seem to think they are so smart, and they sometimes treat people like idiots.

I had an ultrasound to check my ovaries a while back, and the technician couldn't find one ovary, so he asked me if I'd had it removed. When I answered "no", he said "Are you sure? Maybe you had an operation, and you didn't know they took it out?"
Geez! Yes, I have both ovaries, the technician just couldn't find it, and assumed that I was an idiot who forgot having her ovary removed!

Anyway, I would trust your feeling and your brains beyond those of your US technician. Contact your doctor and tell him your suspicions. Never forget who is working for whom. Good luck!

It is always possible for them to miss something on an ultrasound. It is extremely possible, since they rushed you through it. I would talk to your doctor the next time that you go in, and tell him/her what happened with the U.S. That is just completely unacceptable. They may be able to get you another one quicker considering the circumstances. Also, bring your picture with you. They may be able to tell you if there are two babies in the picture or just one. Good Luck and Congrats!!

I'm pretty sure your doctor would have heard two heartbeats at one of your other appointments.
