i guess you could say windows software is kind of like hooking people on drugs. when you do drugs, you have to use more and more to get high, right?
well with windows, you have to get better and better hardware and keep buying newer and newer programs to keep up. this is called "planned obselescence." they plan it to go obselete so you have to buy the new windows or other programs and they make more money.

Drug dealers do not call their clients "users." Much more common street terms, depending upon the drug, would be "fiend," "cluck" (like a chicken pecking for crack), "geeker," "regular," "smoker," "junkie," or just plain "money." I doubt software developers use any of these terms except the last.
