Which next generation video-game console is the best, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360?

Neither actually. Both were released with bugs and other issues. Neither have sold as well as the Nintendo Wii. I would personally forget those and invest in a Wii system. I don't even bother. I still have my good old Xbox and PS2. The PS3 and Xbox360 are good if you want a computer and/or want to game online with others. Otherwise if you just want to use it as a game system they are a waste of money.

Well that really depends on what aspect you are looking at. if you look at the processor numbers then the PS3 is the S**t but if you look at the GPU architecture then you will notice that the 360 uses a unified shader architecture meaning that it can perform vertex and pixel operations on any of its 48 pipelines meaning it is head over heals better than the PS3. For me i look at the quality of the hardware and the quality of the manufacturer. Microsoft: while not the best company out there they own the most used software on the planet and are constantly revamping there look. Sony: released root kit infested Cd's in 2006, had exploding batteries, cant seem to make an accepted standard(beta max, mini disc, umd. they did not invent the CD that was Phillips.) keep in mind that i own 2 Xbox 360's and currently love them both but that does not mean that what i am saying is not true. now lets look at the consoles them selves at launch the Xbox 360 had issues with just under 1% of all consoles sold the PS3 is missing a video scalar so it cannot output at 1080P no patch can fix this. I leave it to you just rember the 360 has had a 1 yr head start so it is off and running smoothly, it is also cheaper.

CRITICIZING THE PS3
the XBOX 360!! the PS3 has many features such as internet, chat and game downloads but you have a computer to do that! its just a PS2 that has a controller with no wire!!!! And believe me, the PS2 is no good console: you can't take a game out when you are playing the game, you can only have 2 players play and you have to buy a stupid multitap, half of the games are in japanese, and it overheats. SONY is just demolishing the wall fram a PC and a console, when you already have a PC!!! its like buying a webcam with a microphone in it when you have
both already!!!!!! buying things which have more than one ability is not as good as a thing which ALWAYS specialize in one ability. try opening 20 web pages on your computer each on a different address you will find it is MUCH slower than having ONE webpage with ONE address, same principle! The XBOX 360 is the ideal game for people with a veriety of games at their minds, shooters, RPG, racing, strategy and includes 4 player controller port for multiplayer fans. ALSO, it has a great library of reknowned and even famous games such as the new GEARS OF WAR for FPS fans and TPS fans, dynasty warriors for OLD SKOOL players and of course the classic, HALO HALO2 and of course the upcoming hard-core, fantastic, ausome HALO3!!!!!!!!!!!!! The xbox 360 also includes online play but not internet browsing, xbox live is enough to sustain a good life for people that don't have much company at their house. would you risk a fortune to get something you already have? or a reasonable 3** USD for the 360. and to tip the edge a tincy more, the xbox controller is much more comfortable and easy to get used to than the PS3. EVERYONE! IT TAKES NO MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES TO TURN OFF THE 360 AND TURN ON THE COMPUTER! THE PS3 IS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE LAZY AND DON'T BOTHER TO GET TO THE COMPUTER! So if any of you lucky people who have a xbox 360 find out browsing is not supported and you say "CRAP!" I wanna know WHEN, HOW, AND WHERE YOU WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A console is a console, a PC is a PC, it'll just make the different abilities worse.
sure the PS3 will have exclusive games but the best games have a 90% chance that it will come on both

The PS3!!!!!!! X-box sucks. the only reason they sold over 10 units is because they had one year head start. With the exclusive games in ps3 such as metal gear solid 4 and final fantasy XIII, it will beat all the games on the x-360. Some of the exclusive games made for X-360 like gears of war are boring and if you want to play big games like HALO, just wait for it to come out for th pc, that's what i did. The ps3 would also save u money when you want to get a blu-ray player.
because blu-ray is definitely going to win against HD-DVD.

I would say the headliner for must-have games would be the XBOX 360 now. (I'm planning on buying one later this year) Sony needs to work on getting the video game companies to have more fan-favorite and unique games to come out for the PS3 as soon as possible or their going to lose sales. And they need to slash at least $50-$100 off their system. I'm sorry, Sony. I don't care how much blood, sweat, and tears you put into the PS3, but their's no way in blue hell I'm paying $600+ on any video game system.

There is no way to definitively answer this question objectively. As far as processing power goes, the PS3 is the winner. I mean, it's even being used to replicate human protein structures with a program developed by Standford university called Folding@Home.
As far as units sold goes, Xbox wins easily because it was the first out. As far as innovativeness goes, it's the Nintendo Wii. They've managed to change the way gamers, and game designers, think about games.
