I want to shrink a pair of jeans as I bought them and they are a little too big but now it is too late to return them. Is there any way to shrink them in width but not length?

Jeans will naturally shrink when washed. I would wash in hot water 1st and then dry on high. I would only do this until you get to the desired fit.
