I just took her to vet and she is backed up in her colon. The doc says its nothing I did and that this is normal around this time of year, but he didnt give me any tips on changing the food in the future. Can anybody help with that????? pls...............
I do have a laxative and some liquid food to give her for the next couple of days, which i hope they work.

Give her lots and lots of fresh hay and fluids to get her gut moving. Did the vet check for a blockage? If not, be wary of using laxatives.

Get some simethicone, do some gentle stomach massage, be sure to keep her warm and comfortable.

There's some articles here that may help

The last one has pictures of the stomach massage.

Good luck!

A rabbit not eating is a BAAADDDD sign. They don't usually do well if they have not eaten for 24 hours. If you haven't noticed, a healthy rabbit will eat almost throughout the entire day. So, a rabbit that is not eating is usually a sign that it is really really sick.

Impaction in the colon should be treated by manual removal. An enema will usually help. And since its not eating, putting your rabbit on a drip is a good idea too. Ask your vet for help. He/she is the best person to help you in your case.

Did you not do any research before you put a dog and it's prey in the same house? The breed was bred to hunt small furred game. Badgers for one and other small furries. This breed does extremely well at Earth Dog trials. Where they put the dogs down tunnels and let them seek out a cage of rats. Then the dog barks until they find the humans come and pull them out and take out the rats. As a breed some of these dog have a very high prey drive. Minis are some with very high prey drive. My friend is a breeder. One of her best Earth Dogs is a mini. Some of her retired show dogs do Earth Dog trials now. so even the show bred dogs can have high prey drive. Keep the animal separate ALWAYS.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR RABBIT A LAXATIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Rabbits most often die from the diarrhea.

If your rabbit is "backed-up" it most likely has a hairball!!!!

(Rabbits clean themselves like cats and get hairballs like cats-the difference is that these often kill rabbits.)

You need to give it dried papaya and pineapple--the enzymes break up hairballs. Vasoline on the front foot works, like it does for cats.

Add 1/4 teaspoon of flavorless meat tenderizer to 16 ounces of water and give this to your rabbit until it is gone, then give water.

Do all of the above for your rabbit.

If you rabbit has diarrhea, feed it plain Cherios and the water, nothing else until it stops.

We have raise rabbits for years. Vets often do not know enough about rabbits because they deal with so few of them. Rabbit breeders are your best recource for help.

Check out this site http://srcw.us/mcr there is a special rabbit care and illness section. Email the address provided there for more information or help. Also check out the downloadable rabbit care flyer.

Good luck with your bunny!

Rabbits ears are suppose to be cold, thats how they keep warm (weird I know). Have you changed anything lately? Maybe the rabbit is cold with the shivering. I know you know your rabbit the best, but remember they usually do only eat at night. Im sure the vet will be open tomorrow if you want to take her in. Call them and ask what to do. Is she drinking?

It's time to take your bunny to the vet. It may have a cold.
