This confuses many people. GHz is the clock speed of your processor. It measures how many times a second it performs operations and crunches numbers. The more GHz you have, the more operations your computer can do per second. It makes for a generally faster computer to have a higher GHz number. A 1 GHz processor (or central processing unit, aka CPU) is slower than a 1.2 GHz processor.

Memory refers to Random Access Memory or RAM. This is where the CPU stores and moves its data around with. The more RAM you have the more playground your CPU has to store data for the applications you have actually running on your computer. If you have insufficient RAM, your computer compensates by increasing usage of whats called Virtual Memory. This is handled by the Windows operating system. If your computer has to use more of the Virtual Memory because of insufficient RAM then it runs slower because Virtual Memory operates from your Hard Drive which has a much slower data transfer speed than those little RAM sticks do. RAM is dedicated to your CPU whereas your Hard Drive is performing multiple actions of reading and writing at multiple locations, so it takes some time to do its operations. Sort of like having an assistant only helping you hold and move papers (RAM) vs an assistant that is helping you and multiple other people hold and move papers (the Hard Drive). Which one will help you get the job done faster?

You can increase your RAM as long as you have an available slot to stick it on your motherboard. You cannot, however, increase your GHz of your processor unless you remove your existing processor and replace it with a compatible one for your motherboard. NOTE: Every motherboard is specific with the type of RAM and CPU that it is compatible with much in the same way an engine is specific to certain vehicles.

Whenever you open a program on your computer, it has to be loaded into memory. The more memory you have in your computer, the more programs you can have running at once.

The term GHz usually relates to the processor (CPU) speed. It basically indicates how quickly your computer can crunch numbers or "compute". The higher the GHz, the quicker your computer will be.

There are other things that make a computer fast such as the bus speed on the motherboard, or what speed your hard drive can spin.

Memory is the "brain" of your PC. The more memory the bigger the brain and the faster it thinks. The processor or cpu is sort of like the metabolic rate of your PC. The faster it is the more that it can do in a given time. This chip is often made by Intel or AMD. Its speed is measured in gigahertz.
So the bigger the memory and the faster the cpu speed, the faster and more powerful your PC will be.

both actually. . . The more memory thats on a computer, the more room you have to store files. .. . Ghz is the main one tho. The higher the Ghz number is, the faster the computer will be.

I do not believe a bunch of tech jargon will be as clear to you as this simple analogy :

Think of a PC as a delivery vehicle.
It transports data.

Ghz is how fast is can travel & memory is how much cargo it can hold.

Depending on the job, both factors are important on how fast it can complete the task.

If it is a small amount of data ... memory is not as important as Ghz.
If it is a large amount of data ... memory is very important.

Hope this helped.

you will would desire to seek on your motherboard and notice if it helps that memory. If it replaced into me i could plug it in, I even have carried out it in the previous and that i've got in no way observed any problems. i beg you to be causious yet in my previous it has worked fantastic. The ram slots could settle for it and purely run at 667 ghz.

Hz is the actual speed that your PC runs things through.
The memory is the amount of data that your PC could run through at a time.
This means, having a lot of Hz but little memory will leave your PC's speed to waste because it can't run as much data, and having little Hz but tons of memory will allow you to process more data, but at a slower speed.
