Congressman Murtha was a hero in the Vietnam War. He has high respect among his colleagues in the Congress and is considered an expert in military matters. He was one of the first Democrats to come forward against the Iraqi War. He stuck to his statement despite verbal barrages from the Bush administration and Republican leaders in Congress.

Despite whether or not what his stance is towards the Iraqi War, he STILL is a great American because of his service in 'Nam.
