If so, is the camera considered part of the field? Or is the play reset?

I think it has hit the camera in both pro and college games (its not really up that high) if it did hit the play is dead on the spot and reset.

I do not know enough about the camera except it does seem to be high enough that a regular play will not be affected by it...I personally do not care for the camera because it is distracting to be as I watch the game from the stands...I usually can only afford the upper level and by the end zone which makes the camera almost on my eye level and thus...distracting...plus I would rather have the ground cameras where all of the action really is!!!

I don't think the football hit the camera. I remembered the 1997 game it was at Minnesota when a player ran over the cameraman.

It has never hit the camera because they always keep it behind the play, but still, what if it died during a game and they couldn"t move it out of they way?

I do remember a few years years ago, it fell down and almost hit the turf. They had to stopped play for several minutes to fixed it, and get it back up and suspended again.
