I build and promote websites. I did it for fun and now I do it full time. Trained myself too. Did have a career though and that is something you should pursue, good education, good conditions at work and a happy life.

I worked in housing construction as a framing carpenter for over twenty years. Now, I'm a teacher.
I knew I had picked a bad age-level to teach when I did my student teaching, working with eighth graders in the public schools. So, afterwards, I sought a position teaching in a high school (again, public schools). That job was great overall, except for a few kids who just wanted to make trouble in their classes (just not inclined to learn). The administration was rather difficult to work with, so I went to parochial school teaching. Again, though, I was teaching 7th and 8th grade. I had done some substitute teaching at the elementary level between some of my teaching jobs, and realized that I should have been teaching elementary all along. Unfortunately, I have secondary certification.
I'd recommend that all persons considering teaching as a career substitute teach at elementary, then middle, and then high school levels before going to teaching college to get certification.
I now teach the GED. I like it better than any of the teaching I've done thus far. My students are in the real world and need the GED, so don't pull the antics that kids do in secondary schools.

I started my own house painting business when I was 14. I would go door to door and give them my pitch. My second summer I had a crew of three working with me. I did that every summer to get me through college.
After college I was a teacher. I taught for eight years.
I then went into the business world. I did sales ans marketing for twenty years. Now that my kids are grow, I have returned to teaching. I am living and teaching English in South Korea.
There are pros and cons with every job. Being your own boss is cool but it can be stressful not knowing when your next paycheck will come. Teaching is good, just stay out of Admin. it's a pain!
Having the summer off is great too!
Good luck!

when I was a kid I loved raking grass trimmings. When I was a teenager, I got a job mowing grass. After a year of college I sold grass. After that, I became a toyota mechanic. When my arm wore out from twisting wrenches, I got an employee, (became a boss). When that became excruciatingly boring, I sold out my garage and bought a trailer park in the woods, next to the water. Now I'm a landlord and hire fix-it guys to work with me.
The moral of the story is that as one's life progresses so should ones jobs. And, oh yeah, I spend a lot of time mowing grass.

I left the Navy to be home more as I was a mother of two and now work for a Small Business Development Center assisting individuals in starting and/or expanding their small business. I love my job, the people I work with, and feel very good about assisting people in achieving their dreams of entrepreneurship.

I am currently a manager for overseas venture. I enjoy ths job becasue I work with overseas client most of the time. The down side is, I may have to work at 3am simply because it is 9am at client country. If I have a choice, I'd like to be a counsellor. I like to talk to people and solve problems.
