I most definitely am tired of this inane domination by Roger. No doubt he's a nice guy (sorry for the mistype!!), but some competition would be a relief. I no longer enjoy the men's tour. Thank goodness Rafa beat him in Paris in the final! I have never seen a player dominate the way he did this year and I hope I never do again.
Roddick apparently had THREE match points but sadly couldn't beat him in Shanghai in their last event of the year. Let's hope Roddick can beat him again soon and start challenging him!
I'm not saying that it's not fun to watch his awesome talent, but I'd like to see him truly challenged.

I feel exactly the same as you do!! Tennis was so much more fun, interesting and unpredictable to watch when the court was still open to who was gonna win. But lately I have taken a break from watching the men's circuit because I already know the result of just about every tournament. Even the ladies' circuit seems more interesting lately just because it still has a sense of unpredictability and there is no one player who is completely dominating, like Federer in the men's game.

Onestly, i disagree with you. If Roger Federer wins so much is because he is just that good. He works hard, and deserves to be where he is right now; completely invinsible. I think it makes the sport more interesting since a lot of people want someone to beat him. Having an athlete dominate a sport is how sports legend are born. Take McEncore for example, he dominated during some years, and because of that, he became a tennis legend. I think that Roger Federer is at the peak of his domination and will hopefully continue to do so in the years to come. But you know, his domination won't last forever, eventually, he will start loosing more often. So we should anjoy the history of teenis Federer is rewriting.

From a competition perspective, I completely agree with you! He is so amazingly great that it is hard for the next line of players to compete with him. I think Nadal is right up there with him, but in 2007, it could go:
1) Roger wins the GRAND SLAM (all 4 majors)
2) Nadal takes the French
3) Someone comes out of nowhere and stuns the tennis world
But you are right - it is tough to watch good tennis, when he is so good the competition cannot play at a semi decent level.

I agreed with you, I don't like someone or a team dominating a sport too long that's why I don't support Real Madrid and Brazil in soccer though they keep losing now.
However, after going through all the answers somehow we may be grateful being able to watch such a Great Tennis Player. Roder Federer has shown something different and beautiful that none of existing and previous players can do.
I believe a new best player will come to beat Federer but in the meantime, we should just enjoy his game. He is awesome!

If he was just good but dull, like Sampras was, then you'd be right.
But Federer is not just the greatest player around right now, he is brilliantly skillful and a superb athlete. The guy is an artist, he regularly acheives shots that the rest of us can only dream about, and I never get bored of watching him.
Arguably, he's the greatest tennis player of all time...how can that be boring to watch??
Most sports have one person or team who dominates for some time , it never lasts forever. And besides, he doesn't ALWAYS win..he's had some shock defeats, like to Andy Murray, and he is never as dominant on slow clay courts.

It is not as if there have not been dominant players in tennis. The dominance that Federer exhibits is on a level mostly found in 80s and 90s women's tennis. Personally, I hope he continues to win. When you examine his play against other top players in grand slams, you see that he has low spots in his play. I think he is just better at regaining his composure than anyone else. Safin is arguably as talented as Federer but his mental stability under pressure is very poor.
Please do keep in mind that he still has one impediment to overcome. That being Nadal on clay.

Its great to see most of you answer this question with an astounding no!!!!
Are you kidding me! Have you watched the way Federer wins his matches? The completely mind-blowing shots this guy comes up with! His speed when he chases down drop shots and then hit a more amazing ungetable drop shot of his own.
Are you kidding me! Tired of watching the absolute best player to strike a tennis ball ever?!?! Tired of watching the game of tennis lifted into another level? Pete Sampras didn't have the depth of competition that's in the game today. And in all fairness to those chasing Federer, even they are calling him the best ever, including Safin who has beaten both Roger and Pete! James Blake goes firther calling Federe one of the best Atheletes of all time, which I happen to agree. We are watching someone very......very special.... not just in tennis, but in all of sport.
If you, who asked this question, are a true fan of the game of tennis, then you only ask this question in fun! Because in the words of another great of this most wonderful game that I have had the pleasure of teaching for over twenty years................
"YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!!!"

Federer has such a classical style that it is blantantly obvious he has spent many gruelling hours learning and perfecting from the best players ever to have graced the courts. I think he deserves even more credit then he is given. Technically, he is the best player the world has ever seen. Im sure one day someone else will take his place, but only after having dedicated as much as Federer has. Give him his time in the spotlight. Consider yourself priviledged to have witness his near perfection, and look forward to his successor. Because after Federer, the level of professional tennis can only soar.

I'm seriously sick of Federer winning every single tournament he enters, and I bet every other person who watches tennis is sick of it. Although he does earn the glory from hardwork, it's about time he gives an opportunity to the other players in tour who are struggling to match his ability. Maybe he should join less tournaments. He's already the 'best tennis player' right? The ATP Tour is getting quite boring. There is no point of watching the grand slams anymore....there's no thrill, you already know Federer's gonna win it (or lose in the finals to Nadal in Roland Garros). The WTA is even more exciting nowadays....
