On Princeton Review it says to have 1 or 2 reach schools, I'm ranked 56 in my class of like 900 and have a average of about 94 with 3 AP classes. I was really wanted to apply to Columbia (with an acceptance rate of 11%) as my reach school but is this too out of reach for me? My frugality is telling me to save the application fee money and apply to an easier school as my reach.

Corrections: AN average, was WANTING. I don't usually sound this much like an idiot, I hope.

Hi there! I would have to know a lot more about you to tell you what your reach schools might be. How have you spent your time outside of class? What things are you really passionate about? What academically interests you? How have you contributed to your school and/or community? What leadership positions have you taken? What awards have you received? How did you do on your standardized tests (SAT I and II)? How competitive is your school? How well do your teachers know you? Why do you want to go to Columbia, other than because it's in New York?

All of these things are important -- without knowing about them, I can't give you a good idea about what schools you should apply to. But based on the classes you're taking and your rank, you could still have a good shot at Columbia IF you apply Early Decision.

Why don't you fill in some more info, and I'll let you know?
