when i click on a music file, a pop up comes up reading:

Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio
hardware is available, or the hardwarte is not responding.

What does this mean? i have a laptop so i have inbuilt speakers, so is there a program i need to install, or an option i need to do in order for my sound to work? (PLEASE SPECIFY WHAT I NEED TO DO) thanks

you should have a Driver disk that came with your laptop, if so you need to run it, and it will install your audio drivers

No sound is heard on the new computer or after Windows has been reinstalled. Some computers do not have internal speakers; they have to be installed externally. The audio card is often integrated with the motherboard for computers from HP and Dell. . I find the information given at
http://fixit.in/sound.html is more useful

You might have to reinstall your sound drivers. If your laptop came with a few extra CDs (I don't know if it did; some of the newer computers don't), one of them might be labeled "Drivers" or something like that. If it didn't come with a CD, you may have to call tech support and see if they can help. I've got one last thing that couldn't hurt, though.

-Right click on "My Computer," then click "Properties."
-Click on the "Hardware" tab, then click "Device Manager."
-Scroll down until you get to "Sound, Video, and
Game Controllers" then double click it.
-Double click anything that shows up with "audio" in it. On my
computer, I have one that says "Audio Codecs" and
another that says "Audio Drivers." When you double click them,
you should see something like "This device is working properly"
in the window. If you don't see this, or if you can't find the audio
codecs or audio drivers, then they're probably not on your
computer anymore and need to be reinstalled.

I hope this helps you, at least a little bit. Tech support is probably your best shot; I don't like talking to them either, but they usually get the job done.

You may need to reinstall the driver for the speakers. Make sure you have a media player like windiws media player or real player. WIndows should have a generic driver for your speakers. Go to control pannel and click add /remove hardware.follow all the steps for add and it should recognize your speakers and install the neccesary driver.

Indeed there is a sound driver that you will need to get.
Get make and model number off of laptop, go to manufactures website. Click support. This is usually where they will ask for model number, enter it. Go to download and drivers. Download driver listing for your laptop and install.

This should resolve that problem you are having.

It's not the speakers. You evidently didn't install the audio drivers from the manufacturer's website.

You need to download the sound drivers for you laptop. go to yahoo search bar and type in the model of the laptop and then "sound driver" and download from a site that is not loaded with spam.

Right-click on My Computer->Properties->Tab Hardware->Button 'Device Manager' ->Sound, video, and game controllers
If there are any red X's, you need to reinstall your audio software, nothing's there? need to reinstall
go to your manufacturer and find out you audio chip type's codec
downloads.com and search for you audio chip type's codec and download whatever makes since.
Your manufacturer might have a website and he might offer downloads from that website.
When all else fails...google it
If you have any more specific questions, email me through Yahoo!
Hope this helps!!!
Chris :)
