An internet connection can become slow or stop working due to a number of reasons depending on the type of the connection. Many of the problems can be solved by making software changes or small hardware corrections. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yl62gz

could be your computers been hijacked--a bot is taking some bandwidth to spread stuff like junk mail ---run some anti virus if ya have it or down load free at cnet---spybot ad-aware or zone alarm off the top of my head...hope its not that, have at bare minimum 256 on-board ram ,hit control alt delete and go to processes and see if any programs take 90 percent or higher ram or CPU usage for more than 2 seconds...i like this program if none of that works this is address http://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php?DATA_OFFSET=40&TCP_Options_string=020405b40103030301010402&IP_MTU_DISCOVER=1&WIN=64240&RWIN=513920&MSS=1460&SCALE=3&TTL=46&TSOPT=0&SACK_PERM=1&IP_TOS=32&IP=66.41.14
that will test your speed and show any bottlenecks in settings-- shut off firewall and any thing using internet for accurate reading. this is same site adress but has program i use tcp optimizer( http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php ) this links staight to download http://www.speedguide.net/files/TCPOptimizer.exe that may help its for xp,just read site it was helpfull to me.

Is your memory too full? Mine usually starts lagging a bit when I need to clean up my hard drive. Just a guess, I am no expert when it comes to computers...just addicted to them!
