I think it's a mixture of someone not understanding and their insecurities. People tend to judge what they don't understand.

It's normal for people to judge others, and it doesn't always have to do with insecurity. It's a defense mechanism. We're created to survive in any way we can. Judging a person can save your life.

despite what some people may say, we all judge people to a degree, we have to, it's the only way we can make some kind of decision on how to behave with them, it may not be fair all the time but thats just how it is. for instance when meeting a kid, u have to assume they don't understand many things and talk to them as kids, u could call that judging someone by thier age but if u talk to an eight year old about sex u'd just freak them out.

By what do you mean judge exactly? We have to make judgments regularly. We can't trust everybody. And we can't hate everybody. We will always have to decide who are heroes and who are villains.
Perhaps you mean we should not judge others without sufficient knowledge?

i think that it is a human characteristic.
we are always judging even when we are not aware of it. for example, some people always give dirty looks to mothers who childrens are throwing a tantrum, we judge our co workers, teachers, our childrens friends and their parents and our priests. that is our survival method thats how we pick and choose our friends, partners and place of employment.

i personally do not judge anyone and i consider it arrogance - when a person thinks he/she knows everything and does everything better - only in that case u can judge others. and there re plenty of arrogant but dumb people. just ignore them

A little. But mostly experience.
After a while you can't help but see patterns in human behavior.
