Don't consider yourself a silly blonde. Many people wouldn't know how to do this except for us computer nerds. In most cases, a computer can be connected to a newer HDTV like a plasma tv with ease. If the TV is brand new, there is a pretty good chance that it's compatible. The easiest thing to do is to check for a port on the back of the TV called an HDMI port. If you have one of these, then you can get a special cable at Wal-Mart, or RadioShack or other places that has an HDMI connection on the one side and a DVI connection on the other. Connect this cable properly, and you will be able to use your TV as a monitor.

P.S. There is another way to hook up your computer to your TV using an s-video cable, but this does not give a good picture, and it is very hard to read words on the screen. It's almost not even worth it. I had a computer hooked up this way and I stopped using it because it was so hard to read. Good Luck.

Yes in principle it is possible.

For HDMI interface, your computer needs to have a graphics card that has a HDMI output. This is a by far the neatess and simplest way but the graphics card can be expensive.

Other possibilities include having a graphics card that has a TV out function using RCA video or S-Video. These are older type of cards and should be cheaper. Just connect RCA video output to RCA input of TV. The sound out of the PC ( from the sound card ) go to the audio in of the TV.

Look at the connectors on the TV and see if there is a connector that looks like the connector that you plug your monitor into on your PC. If there is, all you will need to do is get a cable that will hook up your PC to your TV (you can probably get one from where you bought the TV). Once it is hooked up, all you would need to do is switch the TV's input to PC or RGB (or whatever it is named).
