My dad. For sticking around and raising us with mom and the fact that he never denied his children...even though his own father did.

I have a great many.
Galileo, Dr. Carl Sagan, Einstein, Steven Hawking, etc.,and many, many others who devoted their lives to science, and discovering the truths about this universe we live in.
Over the centuries, religion has tried to stop them from revealing their discoveries because it was in conflict with the nonsense the churches taught. Galileo was imprisoned and spent his entire life under house arrest by the Catholic church because he had discovered that the earth wasn't the center of the universe, contrary to what the church had taught. He didn't dare tell anyone, so he wrote it in code in his manuscripts.
More of my heroes are the millions who have been murdered, tortured, and burned at the stake because they didn't believe in certain religions.
My heroes today are the ones who stand up and refuse to be brain washed by the Pope, the television evangelists, or anyone else peddling intelligence insulting fairy stories.
Unlike others, I make no claim to know what created this incredible universe, but whatever it is, it gave me a bull sh.t filter...it's called a BRAIN! And, I use it.

My brother is my hero.
He has had to go through so much in his life, and he never gives up. He lost his first wife and 3 year old baby in an automobile accident, and for awhile, we thought we were going to lose him because he didn't care about anything, and drank all the time. But he pulled out of that, it was hard, but he did it.
He has always been the rock in our family. When our dad passed away it was always my brother we could depend on.
When I was in a coma, my husband was in no shape to make any decisions regarding my care, so my brother made all of my care decisions.
He recently found out he has esophagus and upper stomach cancer, and he still is fighting, he has a positive attitude and he just doesn't know the words "giving up".
