Hospitals across the country are imposing minimum waiting times - delaying the treatment of thousands of patients.

After years of Government targets pushing them to cut waiting lists, staff are now being warned against "over-performing" by treating patients too quickly. The Sunday Telegraph has learned that at least six trusts have imposed the minimum times.

Luis-I agree with what you added, but I don't know why you would say that the article doesn't have anything to do with socialized medicine. I assume you meant the article that I linked. At any rate, it's nice to see that YA isn't populated by a bunch of dirtbag commies. I thought for sure that:
1) Some dimwit would think that I was actually in favor of socialized medicine
Or
2) Some even dimmer wit would chime in to extoll the virtues of cancer patients having to wait two months to begin treatment.

sucks

if socialist medicine was so great, why did the 'glorious revolutionary leader' Fidel Castro have a foreign doctor flown into his 'communist paradise' to treat him?

snarkysmu...: Sounds like you were treated ..... rather not treated in the U.S.A........... - and for a lot of money!!!
Well..... - to all of you out there wondering about what you call "socialised medicine" - here's a similar story for you: I took a friend with a broken arm to a hospital in London. We had to wait a whopping 10 minutes before X-Rays were taken and then the arm was set and put in a cast. We were in and out within an hour!!! No one even asked for names, insurance information, credit card information, bank information, social security number, nationality, ....... - no one asked for ANYTHING!!!!! We here in the U.S. complain that that's "socialism" .... well.... I guess we must be very "socialist indeed" because I cannot think of anyone who's ever received a bill for fire or police services!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake up guys!!!!!!! Medicine here is seen as "BIG BUSINESS" and we are so naive as to call any deviation thereof "socialism"?????????? WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever heard about taxes????? Would you rather have your hard earned tax dollar wasted on countries that hate us.... - or on taking care of our own i.e. health care????!!!!!????? No..... that's "socialism"!!!!!! Meanwhile, I go to Canada and buy "Allegra" an over the counter allergy medicine for US$17 while the same damn thing here costs US$96.99 - AND YOU NEED A PRESCRIPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need I say more?????????????????????

That article has nothing to do with socialized medicine. There isn't good about having an overfunded medicine program. Although social medicine is good for those who are in the lower income bracket, many doctors like in Canada are quitting due to the limits on their own incomes. I don't like American public schools whom are inadequate regardless of the amount of funding, let's not let that happen to our healthcare system! Adequate is not good enough. Let people decide with their own dollars.

Socialized medicine isn't all it's cracked up to be. I don't want to be told I can't have a pacemaker placed because I'm past a certain age. A friend's mother who still lives in England was told that. That was the only reason she couldn't have the surgery. He had to bring her to the States to have the procedure done.

Maybe some day here in the U.S. we can look at the problems with other country`s health care systems and learn from them and start our own nationalized health care system that is better so we can take some pressure off small businesses.

i like private medicine. I broke my leg and hopped to the emergency room. There they gave me xrays and a crutch and a bill for 3000$ and said they couldnt set it because I was on a different plan. So I called my plan and I had to go to my primary care provider to make sure my leg was broken enough for me to go to a specialist to set it. He was a busy man and couldnt see me for 4 days. I saw him 4 days of pain later and in 10 seconds he said I had a broken leg and I should go to a specialist to set it. The specialist he referred me to was also really busy and couldnt see me for 3 more days of pain later. After a week and 4 x rays my broken leg was set. Do you think if I get cancer there I can sue them?

Turning to socialized medicine..has proven to be failure....increased waiting times for common ailments...not being able to choose your own doctors or hospital....it's worse than it is now.
Not to mention...would we really want the doctors to become federal workers?
