If I were you, I'd just buy them at the local store, even if it's not "cheap". Sims 2 isn't really a "cheap" game. It's high quality and one of the best games there are. I have almost all the Sims, all of the Sims 2, and I paid for them all at the store, full price. It's worth it though, and you want to buy them from where you can trust, too.

if u want 2 see what your getting into with the sims 2 for nds go 2 gamefaq.com and look at the 3 walkthroughs the game will keep u pretty busy i know this because i went through the walkthroughs even though i don't own the game or a ds
try eb games or games stop they should have it but it's new so it goes for $34.99 good luck :)

ebay, EBGames or Gamestop. also look on bn.com (barnes and noble booksellers) depending on what system you are playing it on goes for $20 for ps2 -$40 for PC.
