It's a reddish purple Betta, and I'm considering it a male fish just because I want to. And don't make fun of me because I want to name him. Some people consider fish as insignificant, whereas, I think of him as a loved pet.

Um, why are you considering it a male when it could be a female? Male and female bettas are pretty easy to tell apart once their fins grow. The males have much bigger and "flow-ier" fins.

As for names if it's a girl
Sasha
Coral
Apple
Jewel
lol felicity??

as for a male
Prince (purple = royalty)
Jayden
Jasper
King George

I always name my fish after book characters.
Currently I have 3 goldfish: Mooney, Padfoot, Prong (think Harry Potter)
In the past, my bettas have been named:
Odie (Short for Oddysus which may be spelled wrong)
Juliette (my female)
Brutus

Alpha. Alpha the Betta.

And I, personally, love my betta fish...Although I will warn against pirate statues if you get a tank for him. Mine has a pirate aerator that lifts his bottle to his mouth (to release the bubbles into the water). Everytime that pirate lifts his rum bottle, the fish hides in a corner until he stops.
