Do you think that Marching Band should be considered a sport? Why or why not?

Why? Why not? Cheerleading is considered a sport. And it counts as P.E. credits, at least in high school.

You compete against other bands and you are scored on how well your performance and sound quality and all that are. You win and you lose. It is judged by professionals. People should do more reasearch before answering.

And it's not a club. People run across the football field blowing air into an instrument holding it parallel to the ground for 30 min. So imagine holding your breath forat least a minute running around the football field trying to play music that you memorized, and formations that you memorized.

"an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc."(dictionary.com) I think it is a sport because it is hard to hold up your instrument and march at the same time and you compete against other bands

no. i think now days the meaning of sport is blurred. the chinese wanted to put video game playing in the 2008 olympics as a sporting event..... now thats crazy. sport really is activites that are competetive, win/loose, and can be assessed by scoring or opinion. sport should stay sport

Why not? They consider shootoing pool and playing poker a sport.

well at my high school marching band is taken instead of pe. i dont have pe cuz im in marching band. at my school it is considered maybe not a sport but something that gives us exercise.

its just a game for amusement. Besides.... most of the people who joins the marching band are sissy....smile!!!
