I'm black and have lived in Germany now for 16 years. The situation in Germany (and, I suspect, in other western European countries as well) is a bit deceptive. At first glance, it appears that most German women like or "prefer" black men, and so rumors tend to be circulated by U.S. military personnel that women there are into black men because it looks as though lots of black men are with German women (which they are). However, what they fail to realize is that, basically, all women in Germany are white, and so ANY man who is with a woman there will ultimately be with a white woman. There are of course certainly women of other races/ethnicities there (including Afro-German women), but their numbers are by and large negligible compared with the large number of white German women. My experience has been that, as a black person, you are seen as being exotic. So if you are a no-nonsense kind of person when it comes to choosing a partner, and you want a relationship of substance, it is difficult to find a German person who will not be interested in you solely based on the exotic factor and because of some strange kind of sexual stereotypes that many, many Germans believe about black men and women- I personally have found it extremely difficult to meet the "good ones" who are on the same educational level and come from an upper middle class background. Though I would imagine things would be the same for black women, I don't know for sure. I do know that there are quite a few German men who "crave" black women for sexual purposes and speak of them in a rather lewd, disrespectful manner (it's not uncommon to hear the derogotory term "Negersau" in reference to black women). However, I suppose anything could be possible! If you're just out for some fun and open to any old random sexual encounter, you'll be in high demand. But if you're looking for something deeper and more meaningful, it will be difficult.

Could be, I mean people like what they like. Although, I've notice many Italian men from Italy(not the ones origionally from here) love black women. I've seen every so often. Hey, we're not as bad as some people think(smiles).

Yes, I believe some German men do prefer Black men also.

YESSSSSSSSS!!!! omg i live in hessen because of my dad and i've seen SO many of the germans w/ people of color! i'm black and the germans seem to have a strong attraction to people w/ brown skin! Some have even admitted and in the "tv guide" TKS makes theres a section w/ USAER(ameriacans in europe or somthin') updates and their is a "date collumn" w/ many german women asking for preferable black men! I think it's the same for the men adn women. and please do come it's very nice and beutiful and peaceful, but beware cuz germans smoke very heavily! if you come i hope your trip's nice ~ Lucy

no way is this true. germany has one of the lowest mixed-race unions in the western world..........most common being in canada/UK

Nein. German women do not prefer black men. Its just that the black soldiers there basically have that choice and what the women decide comes from the heart. Black women have too much attitude at this point in time.Not Oprah. shes way cool and Vanessa williams.
