I had one lump come up & had a breast ultrasound done..it was completely benign. It went away on its own a few days later. Now I have another one in almost the same spot (moved up a little, though). Have any of you experienced this? What the h#** is it? Its really freaking me out. Thanks!

yeah... I had to alter my diet 180... stop caffeine drinks and foods. I also was sent to a biofeedback lab... which basically taught me how to handle and release stress. I was so freaked out that my hormones, my mental health and body were just stressing. I learn that I had dense breast and exams plus monitoring was needed to detect and catch early.

Just be sure u keep a journal documenting eating, stress, where the lump is, date and when u have ur periods. it helps the doctor when he can see a pattern and can rule out other things causing them. Think positive, no news is good news! Keep ur appt!!!!

If u are really stressing, call your local health dept or breast cancer society... they may have other quicker methods of examination and testing.

First, having a fibroadenoma does not increase your risk of breast cancer. Second, your aunt having breast cancer does not increase your risk much. (Although a complete family history is something to review with your doctor.) Third, if you are really that anxious about the lump, you could have a biopsy for reassurance if nothing else. You could have a needle biopsy or an excisional biopsy. A fine needle aspiration can be done in the office if the lump is easy to feel. If the cells are consistent with a fibroadenoma this is highly reliable. However, getting cells out of a fibroadenoma can be difficult, so a non-diagnostic aspiration is possible. A core needle biopsy can also be done. A small piece(s) of tissue is remove and can be reliably evaluated. This procedure is a little more uncomfortable than fine needle aspiration. Lastly, you could have the lump removed with an excisional biopsy. This would get rid of the lump but leave you a scar, and would be the most uncomfortable of the options.
