I live with chronic UTI's. It started about 3 years ago. I get them about 10 times a month. And the pain in unbearable. I have been to the doctor twice about this problem, and they cant find anything wrong. So now I live off of UTI pills over the counter. (I cant remember the name of them, I get them at Rite Aid) And they do help alot. But you arent soposed to take them as much as I do.
I had to stop drinking pop totoally. Which I admit, I did live off of Code red Mt. Dew for ages. I drink cranberry juice, and I HATE it. When I go to the bathroom, i wipe front to back. I shower twice a day. I am sexually active, as I am married, but my husband is also clean.
I cant stand having these uti's all the time. It actually effects my daily life. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything you do to releive the pain?

Is your urinalysis showing infection? I thought I had a uti and went to the doctor only to be told my urine was clean. I was in a LOT of pain. One doctor gave me something for yeast infections, saying that yeast can get in the urine or kidneys or bladder or something, and cause pain. The pain went away after that. Another time a doctor diagnosed me with vulvodinia (not sure of the spelling) but basically it is an overly sensitive vulva, for which she precribed a mild antidepressant(whatever!!) and a cream. The pain went away after that as well. I am currently suffering through week 2 of one right now. I keep taking the Uri-stat pills (and Cystex, whichever they have at the pharmacy I am at) and when you go after taking one of those it screws up the urinalysis anyway. Sorry for the book, I just really know how you feel and hope that this may help in some way. My boss did recommend the cranberrry pills (I hate the juice too) and 1000 mg vitamin C.
Good luck!!

I would suggest that you go to see a doctor even if you are not experiencing pain, because an infection in the bladder can linger and be asymptomatic and then flare up suddenly. If you have been prescribed a course of medication for your 'chronic uti' then i suggest to finish the course of treatment with that, because not finishing it will allow the bacterial infection to build a tolerance, if there is one. Acupuncture and herbs offer a way to treat chronic problems like this too. The acupuncturist/herbologist will help to aleviate not only your symptoms, but the root cause of your suffering this condition so that it doesnt happen in the future.

You need to go get them treated medically. If you let this go untreated it can cause a severe kidney infection or worse yet sepsis aka it spreads to your blood stream. Go to the doctor and have a urinalysis done as well as a culture and sensitivity so the know exactly what bug is causing your UTI. Once you finish the antibiotic have the doc test your urine a day or two after you finish the meds to be sure it cleared up the UTI. Try taking cranberry capsules since you don't like the juice and also take extra vitamin C. Once you get THIS UTI cleared up ask your doctor about prophylactic antibiotics to help prevent UTI's. I am sure you have been told this but be sure to urinate right after you have sex to help flush the bacteria out of your bladder. Be sure to drink plenty of water. If the UTI's continue then see a urologist to get to the bottom of all of this.

You poor girl. This must be so horrible. I get UTI`s from time to time, but to get them all the time must be unbearable. You must get to a Dr., who will refer you to a urologist to have your urine checked. You will have to take a sample, the best time is to give an early morning sample, which will have any bacteria there at their strongest. They might also want to do a cystoscopy, to see what condition your bladder is in. This isn`t to pleasant either, but will only last a few minuites. A little tip for you is to pee both before & after sex, as this cleans you out down below from any "foreign" bacteria.
Hope this helps, & good luck.

i also suffered from chronic UTI'S i was also perscribed Macrobid, but then i would be prone to Yeast Infections. So i talked with my GYN about other alternatives, she put me on a pill i would take after sex, everytime. It worked wonders, I have not had any UTI'S in the last year, and am proud to say im no longer taking that medication either! I guess my body built up the immunity to them, and i also drink alot more water, and urinate after i have sex......

Why are you taking over the counter meds? I would think that your doctor would have you taking Amoxicillin which would treat it. But if you have already taken the drug and you're still having problems, you may want to consult a different doctor.

I used to get them often. Check for cancer, that can mimic UTIs. I took Macrobid to get rid of my UTIs...
I'd like to see your dress in you avatar closer up, it looks like a flag?
