If you have been driving it for over a month this way you have made whatever problem much more expensive to fix. There are several things that could be causing this kind of noise. DO NOT DRIVE IT ANY MORE UNTIL YOU GET IT TO A MECHANIC
Have it towed to your mechanics shop. If you do not have a mechanic and have AAA call them and as for a shop that specializes in MercedesBenz auto.

You should be able to determine if you are hearing a noise from the transmission by putting the rear wheels up on stands and running the engine at various speeds from idle to 3000 RPM. Start with the transmission in Neutral, then select PARK, then gear ranges D, 3, 2, 1. Listen carefully to determine when you can hear the grinding noise. If you can only hear the noise above 25 MPH, you will not be able to check the front wheel bearings by hand spinning. Defective wheel bearings tend to be noisy at any and all speeds. Transmission noises above 25 MPH (only) suggest that the problem is when the transmission has shifted into 3rd or 4th gear. Check all these possibilities and eliminate those that create noises only after you have reached 25 MPH. Consider also that the noise might be coming from the driveshaft or differential.

Try revving your engine a few times while you're in PARK or NEUTRAL mode and let it sit for a few seconds. There could be something wrong with the transmission.
