It's Attention Deficit Hyperative Disorder, not disease lol. I can't believe someone actually said that word. My dad and older brother are diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. My brother is 26 and has had it since he was atleast 2 but he's never realy been on medicine until recently since his doctors were against it when he was a child. And now his brother's girlfriend (not his kid) his 8 years old and has the same thing and he's on meds. for it.

I don't think they should get away with anything aka use there disorders for exscuses. My friend will do this all the time since she has both ADD/ADHD and she think she's cool when she just blames everything on her disorders. I grew up with anxiety, depression, bipolar, and insomnia for the past 7-8 years and i've never been able to get away with anything. My parents would never let me, if you start down that path it's like treating yourself like you have a handicap and you don't. I've learned from the start with my disorders to say sorry, be mature and responsible and not blame everything on what I have. (I was diagnosed with my disorders when I was 9 or 10)

No disability of any sort is a "good excuse" for unchecked behavior patterns. However, there are probably good reasons for a way a person behaves because of their disability. ADHD, in particular, can cause a person to be extremely hyperactive (thats what the H stands for) and have difficulties slowing down both physically and mentally. Making snap mental judgments can lead to serious error, both socially and financially, so such a person must train themself, or get assistance, to slow down the process and think a bit more rationally about such decisions.

A person who decides they are going to "get away with whatever they want" is going to have very few friends, indeed.

ADHD- is 'active defiency hyperactive disorder' or something to that effect. and NO its is not an excuse your daughter can use to get what she wants. it is controllable with the right help. there are organisations on the web where you should seek help/advice, as it is not something that you would be able to deal with alone. there are two sights ive listed below. or just type in ADHD, and a list of useful websites will come up. i cannot imagine what it must be like, as ive heard how hard it can be for families. i wish you all the best though!!

grow up. maybe if you didn't act like such a little shite in the first place you wouldn't have to think up ways to get around people.
besides, at 11 there isn't a lot to get away with anyway. you're still a kid, you can't stay out too long after dark, and beddybye time is stil 8:00. i'm sure you're parents have a lot bigger concerns than you faking an imaginary disease. besides, even if you do succeed at this, all they'll do is put you on meds and lose all hope that you might turn into a decent citizen. have fun jr.

attention deficit disorder is real, but a lot of perfectly normal kids..especially boys are misdiagnosed with it...kids are naturally active and rambunctious, and this should be treated with plenty of chances to exercise and play, not medications. and yes, even kids who really have the disorder should not be allowed to use it as an excuse. the sooner they learn to deal with it, the better off in life they will be. the saddest thing i have seen is kids who are diagnosed with this...they are told they are learning disabled, that they can't help the way they behave, and it becomes a crutch for them..a reason not to try. if your kid has it, there will be challenges, but there are always challenges with kids, please don't take the first opinion or the first prescription with out seriously discussing and researching your options.

just so every one knows, most ppl with ADHD are pretty much like everyone else. my 10 year old sis has ADHD and is in regular clases. the only thing is they tend to not listen to ppl well(hence the name.) but besides that she's normal. one of the most popular girls in the school, no joke.

I have it and it means you have trouble concentrating and focusing. it can and is cured with psychopharmacology. A Good crack across the kids backside might stop the excuses. If not then I suggest a pants down over the couch taste of the strap.

ADHA=Attention Deficit Disorder
it is a disease in which the victim is easily sidetracked. The person is often hyper, and has too many thoughts running through his/her head that is able to be comprehended. There is medicine for that, though. It is sometimes a good excuse, and it is used a lot.
