Cause the GOP and its supporters are generally very rude towards the younger gen and automatically want to put plus in the "young punk" bracket. Also we want more liberal laws like a lower drinking age and legalize recreational marijuana and gay rights. Republicans fail to understand the rest of the world does not always share the same morals and values they do and don't realize just cause someone is different than you, it doesn't make the a bad guy and maybe they have better ideas than you. But then again, there are kind like that to. It just depend on the person. I just say live and let live. I don't care what you're drinking or smoking as long as you don't push it on somebody else and don't do things (like any impaired driving) to jeopardize the safety of others.

You didn't lose the entire generation. You've still got 40% of us. On many college campuses, the Dems are considered a joke, it all depends on where you are.
I think both parties are slowly losing the generation and the country by becoming more and more partisan, and creating a greater rift between the reds and the blues. It wasn't long ago that we considered the political parties to be two groups of people with different ideas, and not mortal enemys to be fought and conquered in Washington.

Well lets just say that people don't like being lied to and the GOP has has transformed from the Grand Ol Party to the Gay Old Party which is repulsive!
However, it is mainly because the people just don't like to be lied to. And its not just the younger generation but some of the older wiser generations with the exception of those wo are stuck in their old ways and too ignorant to be informed and learn and except the truth. Fact is those who believe the GOP is a very small number , not because they are the GOP but because they are corrupt and criminal. Lastly, Bush and the GOP are single handedly dstroying the constitution which many of our ancestors died for. And remember that Bush stated that the constitution is simply " A Goddam piece of paper"...... see how simple it is? He and the GOP are simply morons.

The Other Lies of George Bush
"George W. Bush is a liar. He has lied large and small, directly and by omission. His Iraq lies have loomed largest. In the run-up to the invasion, Bush based his case for war on a variety of unfounded claims that extended far beyond his controversial uranium-from-Niger assertion. "

Bush Murders, Buries Main Witness Against Accomplices
"Saddam had to be silenced before he told the world about his long collusion with the United States. Dead men tell no tales.
Saddam was covertly backed by his principal accomplices, the U.S. and Britain. Donald Rumsfeld even went to Baghdad to offer Saddam arms, finance and intelligence. Hanging Saddam eliminated the main witness.
The U.S. and Britain, as I discovered in Baghdad in 1990, supplied Saddam with poison gas and germs to make battlefield weapons (these were not "weapons of mass destruction." The germs were never successfully weaponized).
So long as Saddam was killing and torturing people America and Britain did not like, he was "our SOB."
Some of the tame U.S. media have been spinning Saddam's execution as a justification for the Bush/Cheney administration's unprovoked invasion of Iraq, without ever asking why Saddam was an ally in 1988 yet a devil in 1991 and again in 2003.

I am not a member of the generation you are speaking of, but if they are abandoning the GOP that can only mean one thing, and that thing is that they are waking up, and wising up. I don't mean to sound rude, but I am afraid that it is your question that is the joke. Any one who favors Bush has to be either filthy stinking rich or stupid. The rich love him because he favors them, and the stupid like him because they believe all the lies that the mainstream media feeds them. So which are you...rich or stupid?

Colleges are the breeding ground for liberalism. If you feed open minds with propaganda all they would think is propaganda. Instructors should teach both sides of a subject... not tell their students how to think. I have had this experience in my college years and am glad Im strong minded enough not to listen to their trash.
