Republicans want to win in Iraq, what is the military objective the troops need to do so they will know when they have won? I want to know how we will know when we win? Is it when Bush says we won?

Before we can talk about winning we need to know the definition of winning and Bush has not told us what that is. So what is the objective the troops are fighting for?

True, one has to know what one is winning in order to win. Given the growing Anti-American tide in the Middle East, there is no winning. Given that that sympathy lies with the extremists - we can never win.

Our government can not stop common dangerous street gangs (domestic terrorists) so how can we hope to stop the vicious cycle of violence by middle east terrorists bent on taking over Iraq? Its not going to happen.

Our government's biggest mistake was ignoring the Middle East frame of mind (centuries old culture with its own set value system) and thus should have been working WITH that instead of against it. But what do I know. I'm just a no body and the government is not going to listen to me about anything.

at the moment the troops are trying to stabilize the insurgent attacks. This is something we had not counted on....that the in-fighting would be so fierce.
our objective, now that the dictator is dead, is to stabilize that country to the point where their government can take over and the people of Iraq will be able to live in a free society. It isn't really about a win but rather reaching our objective!

When Bush says "We have won" it means the part we were trying to achieve, First time was when we took down a dictator. Second time was when we were createing a Democracy. Right now Everyone wants the war to be Won, but with fear of a Civil War, and more terrorists attack's it tarnishes hope to see if there will ever be a fuctioning society over there. Still thought many hope and live each day to hope for a better Tomarrow.

The objective is a strong Government in Iraq that will be powerful enough to keep all the different factions in order and ensure Peace and Prosperity for Iraq and a good supply of Oil for the USA.

Now that Shite and Sunni Cards have been played there is almost no chance that peace will be there rather I think other countries in the region like Saudi Arabia Jordan Iran and Turkey are going to get involved.Looking at the circumstances I think Shites will loose in the end.And may be Iraq will be divided into three or four parts if the rights of Christian minority are kept in mind.

When our embassy and the 14 permanent military bases are up and running. When American Oil Conglomerates control the manufacture and distribution of Iraq's oil. When we've sent over enough troops to crush the opposition to these two facts.

There will be no winning this war. Not that our troops haven't done a great job, but the longer we keep them in there the more we will lose.

Why do you say that Republicans want to win? I thought that all decent Americans would wand us to win for the the sake of our country and for the sake of Iraq.
