My brother is requesting for me to make a cosplay costume for him (we're going to 1. make a skit and 2. go to a convention this summer). Any ideas?
He's 15 if you want to know an age range or something...

I'm no expert but a good costume for your brother would depend on (if you want to be accurate):
height (after all, a 5'8" Edward Elric would be a bit weird)
skintone( someone with a dark tan probably shouldn't go as a character whose supposed to be pasty white)
wether or not he is willing to wear a wig( beacause if he doesn't, you'll have to go with his natural hair, which limits you quite a bit) budget( how much money you can spend REALLY affects how your costume turns out, trust me)
and a few other things.
If your looking for something different from everyone else, try doing characters from older animes(ex. Speed racer) and games , or less done characters from popular shows/games (Hayner, Pence, and Olette from Kingdom Hearts II).

Well, helps if you have an idea of the skit.
I've seen lots of anime costumes this last year; I'd say take something that is familiar and make a twist on it. LIke this last year at Costume Con, a woman took the wizard of oz characters and dressed them in ancient chinese costuming- very cool.

I don't know if it's more American Comics or Japanese Anime centered, so take this only as far as you want...
...Me, my girlfriend, her friend and my dad are going to the Metropolis Superman Celebration in Illinois as the entire Marvel Family. My Dad will be Captain Marvel, my girlfriend is Mary Marvel, her friend Catpain Marvel Junior and yours truly as Black Adam.
They're remarkably simple costumes, actually. But definitely cool.

If you are going as a pair, you should go as Light and L from Death Note! I saw one with 3 little kids as Misa, L and Light and they were soooo cute. I also find that making skits for Death Note are kind of easy.

Try Kyo from Fruits Basket or Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist if you're the challenge type.
