The bookstore is a good idea.
Also try a cell phone store or kiosk. They always need sales folks. Other options are mall clothing stores like the Gap or Urban Outfitters. You could also try being a stockboy at a place like Staples or OfficeMax. That may sound random, but usually those places aren't so bad. Just find a mall not far away and start asking for applications. Something will happen.

This may sound kinda lame....but when I was 16 I worked at a pizza joint. It was my funnest job to this day!!! It was full of 16-21 yr olds and it was a laid back enviornment. I didn't make much money, but time went by so fast. At the end of the night we all did dishes and listened to music. We also had some food fights. I actually like coming to work.

lol hey I work at a grocery store also, i hate it! but being in the union is an up side. Try a shoe store or clothing store. Or if you like working with kids try after school programs; like helping them with their homework, tutoring them, and playing with them at playtime. I did it for a year its an ok job if you can deal with kids. Go to an elementary or jr high school and ask if they have any programs like that and if they are hiring.

YMCA and such non profit organizations are good. It has a lot of fun loving people coming in and mostly there are young kids with whom it is fun to spend time...Good luck!!
