I think celebrating holidays is great, you get to see friends and family.

The question is why do we need this excuse to have people over and see them?

It might be overrated to a bystander watching others celebrate.. or well, holidays have become very commercial. But I think what makes them a lot more fun is to make it special for yourself, as a day to do something. I think it's overrated to celebrate them like how the media portrays them (besides Halloween, I love that holiday), because the purpose of a holiday is usually remembrance. Cultural holidays, the ones untampered by the media and Wal-Mart, are a lot more fun and interesting.

The only holiday I enjoy celebrating is Halloween because I like dressing up.

Christmas, Thanksgiving etc... boring!

It is now. Back before families had cell phones and the internet, holidays were more of a big deal, because you were getting together with people you haven't talked to in months.

Now we talk to our friends and families all the time, through e-mail, messenger, cell phones, video...so celebrating isn't as fun any more.

I like medium intensity holidays, where you have the day off but don't have to do anything. X-Mas and to a lesser extent Thanksgiving are a pain in the @ss. Way too many obligations, whose house do we go to who's cooking. Total hassle. July 4th is the best in the US, BBQ, Beer, and Fireworks. Don't know about other countries.

I celebrate Holy Days by not physically going anywhere. Perhaps the meaning of celebration has changed for the less spiritual, for you to get the idea that resting is over-rated.

Holidays are a time to be with family. I get along really well with mine and that is reason to celebrate

I do. Honor the holidays by not having to work but people do not need to go crazy over those days.
