progesterone is naturally secreted by the ovary in the second two weeks of the menstrual cycle in reproductive age ovulating women. Progesterone or progesterone-like substances called progesterone's or predestines are also ingested by women in birth control pills, menopausal hormone replacement therapy, or just sometimes to induce a menstrual period or regulate abnormal bleeding problems if menses are skipping or bleeding is irregular or prolonged. Progesterone has been used also as therapy for PMS syndrome and for women with infertility or frequent pregnancy loss.

The majority of women (and men) are very deficient in progesterone because of the foods we eat that are very high in estrogen (red meat is a prime example) Progesterone taken internally will be picked up by the liver rather quickly so is not processed through the body very quickly. You can use progesterone cream which is taken transdermally (through the skin) and is well absorbed. Most people require 20 mg 2 times per day on the skin (avoiding the breasts as the breast tissue will also absorb the progesterone quickly and will not distribute through the body quickly). Dr John Lee has written several books regarding progesterone cream and I would suggest you visit his website

If you are low in progesterone like I am...then you will feel better! :)
bio-identical (natural) progesterone is better than the synthetic drug progesterone

I would say probably not, but understand that the mini pill is not enough for some women & will cause break-through-bleeding which means they will probably need a combo pill RN

It is not yet known if progesterone increases risk of tumors. Side effects of progesterone are different depending on whether it is natural or synthetic, and how it's administered. Definitely NOT a drug to be used lightly or without major consultation from your doctor.

If your Dr says you need them for either polycystic ovarian syndrome or a hormone in-balance then I would take them. They may help with whatever your symptoms or condition is.
When you get your pills, look them up on the internet and see the specific side effects and benefits they offer and then decide from there.
Good luck
