it really should be asleep or stunned - that increases your chances by a lot. also, i'm sure you saved before the big fight, like you're supposed to...
there are no button combos you can push that make things easier (but i will admit that i like to push A and Down on the last bounce, and pretend it does something)
oh yea, i forgot frozen status, it's great to use, but quite infrequent- not many moves allow freezing as they do sleep and paralysis

Effect: Turn a Pokeball into a masterball
When: In a battle
How: When u use a pokeball(only works with a pokeball) as the ball goes out press A and B but then as the ball is about to catch it press and hold A and SELECT.

try to put zapdos to sleep or paralyzed or frozen status and never poison,confuse,burn zapdos..what version are you playing by the way? another tip: BRING MANY ULTRA BALLS and MANY STRONG POKEMON that resists Zapdos

Zapdosmust have half of its hp then try to use great balls if it doesnt work try to paralyse it, freeze it or stun it
