What makes a kid spoiled? Why do people tend to think rich kids are spoiled? What if the kid is poor, but is allowed to roam the streets until whenever he wants, his parents don't give a crap and he is allowed to drink, take drugs and all that?

A spoiled or spoilt brat is a young child (and eventually a stock character) whose parents let it get its way in most everything and thus engender greed, selfishness, and arrogance in the child. A spoiled brat is usually and typically an only child that is constantly doted on by its parents. Often, if the child gets a response of "no," he or she will scream, shout, cry, hit others, and generally act horrid.

Giving the chhild anything and everything they want and if not, the child pitches fits til the parent gives in mainly to shut them up. In which case, the child runs the home,not the parents.
The child whose parents don't care about him/her, is not a spoiled child but rather an abandoned child. This does not excuse his actions,i.e. drinking,drugs,etc.-=he makes the choices, but there are many agencies to turn to for help for that individual (which makes me weep that the parents abandoned them)-Spoiling also means letting the child make choices they have no knowledge,experience,etc. to make in the first place.
To me this is simply the parents passing the buck of their responsibility of loving and bringing up the child
Just now the tv series Super Nanny comes to mind-watch that and you KNOW what a spoiled child is and you don't want one,ever!..
