Unless the CD is a CD-RW, you can't delete the files off of it. A CD-R cannot have its files removed, and CD-ROM cannot be written to at all. In order to clear off a CD-RW, go into a CD burning program, and find an option about erasing a CD-RW.

A CD-ROM or CD-R cannot have files deleted and rewritten like a floppy disc. This is because a CD uses a series of pits burned (yes, actually burned) into the CD surface to store data. These pits cannot be refilled.

only cd-rw cds can be erased. The cds like aol cd are normally not cd-rw and data cannot be erased from it. Any data once written into cd cannot be erased.

If the cd is a cd-rw, u cn erase the data with softwares like nero. However, in these cds also, u cn delete only the complete data. partial erasing is not allowed.

What you are trying to do cannot be done
What you need to do is go to the store and ask for
CD-R (record once)
or
CD-RW (record and re-record)

You Can't unless it is a cdrw- cd. That means that you can use them over and over again. A cdr can only be written once..
