I think it has already started. People can't pay their bills, utilities have gone up, few people have medical coverage, college tuition is sky high, and jobs are disappearing. Blame Bush!

no way!

This is going to be a great year. Saddam is dead. Fidel Castro has one foot in the grave already. Unemployment is at historically low rates (under 5%). The overall economy grew at a robust 4 percent rate in the July-September period, a big revision from the initial estimate of 3.1 percent growth. Meanwhile, the national labor market showed signs of firming up. The Labor Department said that new claims for unemployment benefits fell by 17,000 last week to 364,000, the lowest level in 21 months.

As for factory jobs, well thats just the way it is. Developed countries are moving anyway from manufacturing oriented economies to services oriented economies. The only problem is that if manufacturing jobs are going too fast there's going to be some pain because services and knowledge jobs require more education and though more time to get the workforce in place.

factories may be closing but jobs in the service sector are opening up everyday. We aren't in the 1930s anymore or the industrial revolution. America no longer depends on the manufacturing industry to stay afloat. It's not accurate to link a pattern between whats happening now to what's happened in the 1930s because that's not the way our economy functions anymore.
