Funny question! A rabbit and a cat absolutely cannot have offspring. Period. The "cabbit", as a hybrid, is an urban myth, like the one about the Maine Coon breed being a mix of cat and racoon. (I have a Maine Coon, by the way, and they are crazy, but all cat.) Similarly, animals sold as "cabbits" or rabbicats are pure cat, but bred for a deformity so that their hind legs are long while the front are short -- a cruel practice, IMO. Check out this website, which answers this exact question in detail. The author is a respected cat authority and answers many interesting and strange questions about cats, including breeding questions, deformities and defects.

Rabbits and cats cannot mate and produce viable offspring. Period. End of story. I have no doubt that some really horny male rabbits might try to mount a cat, but the only possible result is a brief moment of pleasure for the rabbit.

Here's why:
1. Cats and rabbits aren't just different species, they're from entirely different orders of mammals. Cats are from the order Carnivora, rabbits are from the order Lagomorpha (Nowak, 1991).

2. Only members of the same species can mate with one another and produce viable offspring.

3. Both cats and rabbits, and cats and dogs, are also reproductively isolated by light of their different mating habits. For example, female cats are induced to ovulate by the barbs at the end of the tom's penis. Rabbits have smooth penises - no barbs, no stimulation, no ovulation, no eggs for the rabbit sperm to fertilize -- no babies

Umm... No! Pet rabbits can't even breed with wild rabbits, hares and jack rabbits. Why would they be able to mate with a cat. First of all, bunny boys have sacks. Cat boys have pom poms. Girl Bunnies stand over there babies during feeding time. Girl Cats lie down. It is impossible. Apparentally, I had to put that in lower terms for you.

No, they cant, there genes are too different. The rabbicats are really cats with a musscle deformation in the hind legs wich causes them to hop and hunch over more like a rabbit. I myself think it is kinda mean to bread them to make them come out like that and sell them as a messed up pet. Hope that helps you...

I guess that they could mate in a sense of having intercourse so to speak (the cat would root the rabbit I guess because the cat is usually taller), but nothing would happen with regards to one of them having a bubba-bunny or bubba-kitty.

I'm not sure, but if they were able to mate, the offspring would be infertile themselves because of all that scientific stuff. It's the same concept as mating lions and tigers to get "ligers."

No they can not interbreed. Cats and Rabbits are two totally different species. it would be like mating a wombat with a lynx.

Someone is pulling your leg. They are not from the same species, mating would be impossible.

no, even if the chromosomes are almost identical one can throw it off. I'm sure they can have sex but no baby's will be made. just like humans and apes. very close but no cigar. plus its gross with monkeys...
