Watched Everest on Discovery, there was a man found in the death zone (that's past a certain point on the mountain, as you get closer to the summit).
Anyway, apparently another expedition lost a man, when another found him. He was left dying under a rock. The men wanted to help, but way up at that altittude it's like being out in space. Not enough strength and too dangerous an area to manuever even yourself. People fall off all the time and have limited time on their oxygen tanks. They had to leave him.
He was there all day and part of the night till he died. What would you do or how would you feel, since there really was nothing that could be done? I felt horrible and cried just watching that.

If there is nothing I could do to save that person's life in that kind of situation I would definitely feel absolutely horrible~probably would cry~but I would also remember that everyone who climbs that high on the summit knows the danger and the possibility of death and they made the choice to still climb.

Personally, They are taking their lives in their own hands by doing these stupid things for TV ratings or whatever...
just like the men who were up in the mountain lost before Christmas.....
I'm not being an idiot here so please hear me out......

How many thousands of dollars went into the rescue or attempt thereof of these foolish people?

This crap happens every year..Sorry for the survivors but why didn't the climbers WEAR GPS units on their wrists ?
that would eliminate the lost time in rescuing these guys and save money too......here needs to be changes within the park system. If you climb , you wear a portable GPS unit or you don't climb...sorry I'm off the subject somewhat but you need to know that these people bring it on themselves to prove something...it's bizarre to me ..

I wouldn' be there and if I was I would not have left him, I would have went back. The thing is they where all fools playing with the laws of nature. Trying to prove themselves tough to climb a big mountain. if one plays with mother nature she will show them who is more powerful. IT is just nonsense going up their. It is like Russian roulette. You may make it or not. WE came to this world which is Illusion(maya) and is temporary and full of misery. Only one froth of the souls come to this world. (the less intelligent ones )- That's us. Every life we come back thinking we will find some pleasure here, but it is not real pleasure. go to krishnaculture. for the purpose of human life. Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupad.

ive seen that too and although it was difficult to sit through, death is a fact of life, and basic instinct is to survie before helping others survive. if I were ever lucky enough to see everst in real life and actully get to climb it, i would do what i could, to help him, possibly give him some sort of drug so he would just fal asleep fast and not have to suffer freezing to death.

i would have felt horrible leaving him behind, its hard to say what you would do in that situation. i'd like to say that i would have done all i could to get him out of there. but at the same time..survival of the fittest yada yada yada and looking out for number one yada yada yada. i'm sure some people would feel that he knew the consequences when he went up there, and the risks, and maybe they were counting themselves lucky that it wasnt them. but i know that probably wasnt the case. but my point being...there's a flip side to everything, and unless you're in that situation its almost impossible to say what you would do for sure.
