Best way to get a good nights rest is to drink sipping hot milk. Boil 1and a half cups milk and sip it. It is way better than sleeping pills. Some people don't feel good the next day after taking them. It may do more harm than good.

Okay. You've just gotten your days and nights mixed up, I've done it and it stinks, but it can be dealt with. It might sort itself out gradually now that you absolutely have to stay awake during the day, but let's speed that up.
For one thing, if you're not sleeping, get out of bed. If you lie awake in bed you're just associating bed with staying awake and being tense. So get up and do something low-key until you start getting tired-read the newspaper, maybe-then try again. If you can't sleep after thirty minutes or so, get up again-unless you're relaxed and feel like you're getting rest if not sleep. It's the emotion that matters. If you're frustrated and wired, get up. If you're relaxed, content-stay put. You might sleep soon.
If you have a clock in your room that you can see from your bed, fix it so that you can't. Nothing more aggravating than looking at the clock and seeing how long you've been awake. Better not to know, best not to think about it. Best not to think.
Do not exercise sooner than two hours before bed. You need to be wound down.
Reserve your bed for sleeping, the rest of your room for talking on the phone, prowling the net, even homework. Bed is for sleeping.
Get out in the sun. It will help your body produce melatonin, which is a natural sleep aid.
Try to avoid naps.
As for the sleeping pill, before I did that I'd just take an antihistamine, an allergy pill like Benadryl-NOT one with pseudoephedrine, you want the ones that warn you about drowsiness. Most over the counter sleepaids are just antihistamines anyway, and Benadryl has none of the other crap that's in them.
If none of this helps, and you still have insomnia a week or so from now, talk to your doctor.
Good luck. I've been there, done that, and it sucks. But believe it or not, you will sleep again. I promise.

Set your internal time clock by going to bed and getting up at the same time. I learned this from the farm animals, even the chickens practiced this.
Early to bed and
early to rise makes
vampire strong healihy
and wise.
