According to his campaign website, he is going to announce his decision this month, after his family gets back from vacation. I can't wait to hear. I hope he runs. If he runs, this will be the first time I vote for someone because I want them to be our president, not because I just don't like the alternative candidate.

He hasn't announced a run yet and he hasn't set a date for an announcement the last I heard. My opinion of him is that he seems like a nice guy but not ready yet for the White House. I know Chicago voted heavily for Obama, but the rest of the state didn't. Chicago almost always goes for the Democrat. But Chicago is also who put George Ryan in office. Big mistake. Glenn Poshard would have made such a good Governor. A really true statesman.

I don't think democrats are ready for a black or woman president. I mean, look at how liberal hollywood portrayed Gena Davis as a democratic president...she was the vice president that got handed the office. And even then the dems (in the show) wanted her to resign because they all didn't ever want her higher than vice prez. Bottom line, liberals honestly think that women and blacks are inferior, and not up to the task of president. Just like it took the Republican party to free the slaves, it will take the Republican party to put the first black man/woman in the seat. Condi Rice.

I don't think he has announced yet but would like to see him try. He is a bit young and inexperienced but with the help of good advisers could very well be a great president. I would more like to see him as the vice president candidate this time and a presidential candidate in 2012 or 2016 I think it would be a shoe in then.

I think he will run,but he has no shot at winning a general election for a number of reasons.
1.He's Black(i dont agree with that but it's true)
2.His name(Barack Huessein Obama)people wont vote for a name like that in a time of war
3.Inexperianced(hasn't even finished his 1st term as senator)
4.His voting record(Has a voting record as liberal as John Kerrys.

He is young and inexperienced. Perhaps down the road. To be truthful,I feel he's the media "darling" right now,but will run out of steam. Here's an interesting article though, which states many black Americans don't relate to him like they would towards another black politician.

I am certain the Democrats are grooming him for a run. Hillary is probably weeping in her pillow every night...or maybe she will be vice-president. Or Hillary as the first woman president and Obama as Vice. Who knows...

Obama is much too liberal for my taste. I'd vote for Hillary over him in the primary and Giuliani over both of them. He's the least experienced of the potential candidates on foreign policy.

He made his bid for the Senate keyed upon his independent stature in local politics. Where was he when he promised to stand for cleaning up local scandals in the city and county and then remained silent in office as scandals and nepotism came to light in city and county politics this year? Was county exec. Stroger's son the best candidate to replace him? Does Mayor Daley deserve immunity from hiring scandals and nepotism in city politics?
Not one mention from Obama to this day!
