I consider myself to be a pretty nice guy. I'll go out of my way to help anyone out if they need it. I try to steer clear of the rumor mills and gossip. I try to be a mediator to the people around me. I'm someone that you can count on. I'm dependable, I give good advice, and I think I can make just about anybody laugh... but it just seems like I get taken advantaged of and taken for granted all the time.

That is because most people do not have the morals and ethics that you do. By all means though, don't let this change you. It sounds as if your heart is in the right place, but the sad fact of life is most people are not like you, all they care about is them selves. I would never take you for granted or take advantage of you because it sounds as if you are a diamond in the rough. Remember, good things happen to people who do the right thing. You will be rewarded one way or another.

I am the same way as you.except making people laugh. no one understands my jokes much.I have a 172 IQ.but I am very kind.and generous. It helps being 6ft8"320lbs. I have found out that if you will let people know you can get very angry when people take advantage of you.others will see your no pushover.people respect people who will show there emotions.be honest with them.don't let them push you around.warn them.ahead of time.that your not going to take any crap off them. You have to teach people how to treat you.But being kind is a fine way of being. It is good for your soal.

You should try to be nice. It is an admirable trait. Just realize that there are people who will try to take advantage of your good nature. You have to be ready to let them know where they stand, in no uncertain terms.

Not at all. You can be a kind person, but that doesn't mean you have to let people walk all over you. You have to know when to say no to some people, and when to say yes also.

Sometimes, there is a fine line between being a nice person and a doormat.
Set limits. There's nothing wrong with being nice to yourself!
