warm the head,in an oven or gently with a torch, and knock it out with a 3/8 pin punch.............. John M...........? what's a flat, round punch chisel? sounds like a pin punch to me, ha ha

but,....the funny part.
the cylinder head can Not be heat,
MUST BE laying flat in a flat surface so, at the moment You knock on the valve stem the head WILL NOT BEND and will be straight at the moment of installing
before installing check the internal measurement in the bronze valve guide for accuracy and tolerance .just to be sure the new one won't brake.
P.S. when inserting the new valve in the old valve guide check how much lateral play you have.

measure guide proutusion from head face (heat alloy) drive out from good end with guide driver measure od of both guides they must be identical use bushing when installing new guide with a press (do not hammer in) to the correct depth size installed guide with reamer value seat must be recut the value faced and lapped in valve set down from head face must be checked and decked ifreq skim head
