I'm just wondering because i've been watching football for pretty much 12 hours today*yes thats not a good thing* and some things they've said today..things that shouldn't have been said on tv. The one guy stopped himself because he knew it was going to come out so wrong. but why don't others?

To answer your question, first you have to realize that broadcasting is not an easy job. It is not easy to describe a 3 hr game while talking all the time. So obviously sometimes they will say something that will be wrong. It happens, and it happens a lot more if you are being recorded and broadcasted on TV for 3 hrs.

Well, they get those bloopers shows from moments like that. If they are saying totally off subject and uncalled for stuff? Its a reflection on how far television has been allowed to go with what they put on there. Personally, not to sound like a prude because really I'm anything but a prude.....but I really think its a shame the simple shows on ...cbs, nbc, and abc have just as much cussing now as you will find on cable or satellite tv.....during prime time....To me? That's just wrong....at least leave some wholesome tv shows during the 7pm to 10pm time frame....

A perfect example was one of the announcers during the Colts/Dolphins game said twice that (can't recall name) running back only had a few more yards to reach a 100 yards for the season. He meant to say 1000 yards for the season, but to say it twice caught my attention.

Of course! They're professional talkers, not thinkers, and they can't let there be any dead air of more than 3/4 of a second, so they're under the gun

Yes.

They don't stop themselves because they like to hear themselves talk.
