I am 27 weeks pregnant, and i cant even walk five minute with out getting really bad cramps on my right lower side. It happens everytime i try to walk. I know once you get further along you walking and stuff gets harder, but should it be happening already?
* Another question, a lady asked me today if my doctor said anything about me going into labor early because my belly is so low. Is that true?

Some babies ride lower than others. Unfortunately, that wreaks havoc on nerves, ligaments, blood vessels, and muscles. I'm not sure about it shortening your gestation, but I'm sure the stress it causes is not helpful. You may want to talk to your doc about wearing a maternity belt to relieve some of the pressure. It transfers the weight of your abdomen to your spine.

Be sure to keep your blood flowing properly by only laying on your LEFT side. I know it sounds silly, but it does make a difference. There is a major blood vessel (the vena cava) that can be constricted if you lay on your right side. This might be the blood vessel your baby is laying on when you're walking.

Just talk to your doc about any concerns, do what they say, and all will be well. Good luck to you...Blessings

This is probably nothing. 27 weeks is not early on to be feeling the "discomfort" of pregnancy. Your muscles are being stretched a lot right about now, and it will hurt sometimes. Keep exercising, and stretch all you can. If you are having a great deal of pain, if you are in more than just discomfort for hours without relief, or if the pains come and go on a regular schedule for a long time, CALL YOUR DR! If you are worried, call your Dr. in the morning. If anything unusual happens that you relay think shouldn't call your Dr.. If you are real worried call the hospital, they can give you an idea of how serious it is. But most likely the pains you are having now are because that baby is growing FAST right now, and your stomach muscles were happy with your body the way it was.
As far as your belly being so low, I herd that stuff all the time. My belly was all over the place for a while with one of my boys. You might see a drastic change of position at a couple of points near the end, but right now the little one is still free to move around a bit, and change your shape as they do.

There can be many reasons for your cramping. Your baby may have settled for the moment on a nerve, you may be experiencing the pain of your tendons relaxing to prepare for birth, there are alot of possibilities. As long as you make your regular exams and talk to your doctor about what you are feeling then you should be OK. When ever you have a question that pops into your head, write it down (I kept pregnancy journals with both of mine) take the book to your appointments and ask away when your doc gets to the "any questions" part. It may also help a great deal if you ask your doctor about a "prenatal cradle" which is a harness that you wear under your clothes to help support baby while he/she is still in you. Many insurance companies will pay for them and they can relieve a HUGE amount of pressure (being a 4'9" tall mother of a 9lb3oz baby, I can attest to it). As for the early delivery question, it's best to leave any idea of those things up to your doc, don't let other women scare you by deciding that your pregnancy is anything like any they may have had, because everyone's body is different. Many well meaning women can scare the tar out of you with old wives tales, superstitions, or misinformation if you let them. Don't take advise from anyone who isn't in the medical field. Another bit of advise, in case you don't have it, is to go and get the book "What to Expect When You Are Expecting". This book should be required reading for all moms-to-be (hahaha), it has the answers to just about any question you may come up with and alot of other information you may not have thought about at all. Well, hope this helps.

i am 30 weeks along and have been dealing with the same cramps, they are braxton hicks contractions, i always look at them as the mini jogs for your body before the marathon of child birth, it is because the baby is sitting low and on your pelvis that you feel the pressure when you walk, some women carry high some carry low this is not an indicator of having the baby early though , just were the baby happens to feel comfy at the moment, just two days ago my little guy was up under my rib cage and making me short of breath and having to take things slow. some gave good advice on proping the feet up it does help, and to tell if it is real labor, change what you are doing and if the contractions keep coming in timed duration then they are real, if they go away, then it was a braxton-hicks. No stress, and blessings to you and your new arrival.

It sounds like this is your first baby - and yes, it's totally realistic to be listening to everyone and worry about all the different advice from other people. Everyone is differnent. I remember sitting down on one of the comfy chairs in a mall when I was pregnant, just because I couldn't walk any more. Totally wierd, totally unexpected and not because I was carrying too high or too low, I was just exhausted!!

Then two weeks later, I'm buzzing around, like I'm not even pregnant, but needing to clean the house (nesting, whatever!!!) and take care of what was going on in my life.

Pregnancy is totally strange to your body no matter if it's the first baby or the "whatever" number baby.

Every baby is different and every pregnancy is different.

That being said, if you are concerned about anything, ask your doctor. Or, ask the nurse that is your #1 source.

Don't worry about carrying low or high or any other way. You will know when it is time and while that sounds weird, it's a feeling that will be like no other.

Congratulations! And welcome to Club Mom!

The only people you need to be listening to about early labor is your doctor and your body. Well meaning strangers will give you all kinds of weird advice, just let it go in one ear and out the other!

I used to get cramps there during all 3 of my pregnancies, it might be a pinched nerve or more likely your round ligament.

Congratulatons, and good luck!

You should check with your doctor just to be on the safe side, but it could just be that you have a pulled muscle in your tummy. That was the case in my first pregnancy... but, again, I would ask the doctor. In regards to your second question, I carried full term in both pregnancies, and both times I carried VERY low... and both of my babies are BOYS. My grandmother always said that you can tell baby's gender by the way you carry in pregnancy. High means a girl and low means a boy. It was true in my case, but I don't know if it should be consiered general rule of thumb! Good luck and best wishes!!!

Cramps during pregnancy is common thus there is nothing to worry about. What I suggest you do is, whenever you get a chance, soak your feet with warm water, dry them with a cloth and raise your feet up. This would ease the cramps. Regarding your belly being low, its best to leave the decision on early delivery with your doctor. Doctor knows best thus its best you avoid listening to unwarranty advices.

It's also possible that your stomach muscles are already so stretched out from being pregnant that they aren't tolerating the tension caused when you're up standing or walking even for short periods of time.

Take it easy and do some seated leg lifts, stretches, and exercises for pregnant women (see link). You'll be on top of your game again once your baby vacates premises.
