If I put a new Tampon in at around 10:00 at night and then when I wake up at 6:30am and change it....is that too long to keep it in?
Because....I don't really want to wake up in the middle of the night to change it.

You really should be changing your tampons at least every 6 to 7 hours at maximum. Tampons are very convenient but there is the risk of toxic shock syndrome caused from tampons being left in too long, making them being used at night risky at best. Be safe and use a pad at night.

It is recommeded that you do not keep it in more than 8 hours however I have kept it in for about 10 hours and nothing bad happened. I think it depends on how heavy your flow is. If it is really heavy no longer than 4-6 hours. Maybe you should use those overnight pads so you don't have to worry about changing it in the middle of the night.

Research states that you should not wear a tampon for longer than six hrs. I know I do sometimes and it's been fine. I try not to, but if my flow is heavy, I have to. I also wear a pad and then use only a pad when things slow down.

I heard the longest you can leave it in 4 is 8 hours so i would rather wear a pad instead cuz you may get TSS and dont take that risk Good Luck

I personally would wear a maxi pad to bed. Why chance getting Toxic Shock Syndrome. I never wear tampons because I believe our bodies know what they are doing. Our bodies are trying to expel the blood, not keep it inside. I dont feel it's healthy. Good luck. Kotex with wings work great.

Just answer the question. Why do you wear it? So I won't stain my underwear. Just answer the actual question she is asking. If you want to really get into it, explain the menstrual cycle to her. You are not even talking about sex here, just the menstrual cycle. You can use diagrams and be all scientific. She is not going to equate it to sex, and it is unlikely to scare her unless you mention blood. Most menstrual fluid is not blood, so you don't have to say blood at all and are still being honest. I think omitting the word "blood" which is actually incorrect anyway, and saying menstrual fluid is likely the way to go. Blood will make them think of a wound and just confuse them, and it is mostly inaccurate anyway. My guys at age 2 asked about my menstrual pads, I said they were maxipads, and were like tiny diapers to keep my underwear clean. They said "mommy wears diapers?" and I said "sometimes I wear tiny ones". They were happy with the answer.

You shouldn't leave your tampon in for more then six hours, but I sleep with one in, along with a lot of other women. There is always that chance of TSS but it is rare, so don't worry about it. If you scared of Tss try pads, I hate them personally, but you know some people.

you should be fine

just make sure you don't use scented ones overnight (just my personal opinion)

also, never use one that's for more absorbancy than you need.

I always use tampons. over-night, during the day, whatever. I HATE pads. I never have any problems with just using tampons.

read the package inserts or ask your GYN if you have any other concerns about this.

I only wore tampons when I used to have my periods, and yes that is fine.
