I would like to know what major league pitcher would you have to save a game and your life depended on it and why.

I would choose Eric Gagne of 2003...Why? Because he never ever blew one in 2003. 84 STRAIGHT. Yes there's hall of famers (Smith and Eck) who are legends when it comes to closers. But, the best single season by a closer is 2003 and Eric Gagne. Both Smith and Eckersley and Trevor Hoffman are safe picks as well.
To the genius who picked Adam Wainwright...yah I'd want a guy who's barely pitched 75 innings and three saves (not counting his lucky postseason) in his one year two inning career...That would make me feel SAFE.
If I wanted to kill myself I would probably choose Jose Mesa or maybe Ryan Dempster

Stupid Question. It's hardly even a question. Mo! Mariano Rivera. Best closer of all time. Unstoppable. Year after year he puts up some of the best stats in the MLB. No doubt, Mariano Rivera.

For a 2 inning (or more) save, Dick "the Monster"

how long for the save 1 inning or more? Where? What defense does he have behind him?and Who is he pitching to? I'd take Johan Santana to pitch one inning for me if all of the questions i asked where anybody but if you picked a select team, place, and defense i would probably change it.

Brad Lidge??????????? Maybe if I want to die, he's still suffering from post-Pujols-trauma, but back to the question Rivera in his prime, maybe not now, but when he was awesome, and opponents knew they only had until the 8th innning to catch up, that's the guy I want.

I say paplebon. He was a great closer last year and is a great pitcher overall. I would trust him to save my life.
