Why Dyson?
1) Technology that sucks dirt & hair out of carpets and floors. Use another vacuum and then use a Dyson over that same area and you will be amazed at the amount of stuff that fills the canister.
2) Suction never goes away.
3) Durable.
4) Can take on long, thick human hair & pet hair
5) Can use on delicate floors as well as carpets
6) Has "ball" technology to make it easier to vacuum so you don't have to move your body around when you vacuum as much.
7) HEPA filter for those with allergies.
8) I bought mine on-line awhile ago and have never regretted the decision!
If I have to make a recommendation, go for the dc15 Animal. (if you have hair you need to vacuum)

They have a five year warranty and don't lose suction, feel good in the hand, don't feel cumbersome, they are light, quiet during operation, distinctive looking and pretty.
Dyson never compares their vacuums to others by name in ads (Works as well as a Hoover!), because they don't have to stoop so low, and are confident enough in the ability of their machines.
Also , Dyson entered the market in the USA when it was well established with competition from the likes of Hoover, Eureka, Kenmore, etc and left them in the dust.

Well, I have had hoover (hate them) I have also had eureka & kenmore. They were never very good & something ALWAYS went wrong when they weren't very old. Bought a elctrolux, it was o.k.
Dirt Devil are a cheap & worthless as hoover.
Have had my Dyson for going on three years & I have never had a single problem with it. It is used two to three times a week & cleans 5300 sq. ft. I am very happy with it & the price was not a concern. I paid for what I hoped I was getting & I have. It is better than paying for a new & different vac every year or so.

I used to clean a friends house, and when her old one packed it in, she bought one. She called it the "ducks nuts" of vacuum cleaners. Honestly for the price, you'd expect it to hang your washing out too. I have a 10 year old Vax and it does just the same job

They don't lose suction due to it's patented mechanism which is exclusive to Dyson.
