Depends on the model of laptop you have.

I've provided a link for the Dell spare parts/upgrades page and from there you can see the price differences if you look up your model.

On top of that if oyu get an external burner instead it could cost you probably a fair bit more, since external drives as a whole tend to cost more.

May be better just to stick with the Dell. I see prices ranging from $65.95 to $125.95 depending on the model

This is a laptop so only dell drives will work internally.

Your going to have to be more specific and give a model number or at least type and what kind of burner. Without that...ball park of less than $100

Depends, look for one on ebay, just know your laptops model # and search for it, example c600 dvd-rw. Most all laptops have drives that can be very easily removed and replaced.

If you are just a little handy - this is an easy thing. And cheap - about 40 bucks for CD/DVD burner.
