Should I go buy a Tivo? I currently have a dish network DVR box. If I buy a tivo box can I give me dish box back, or do I need both boxes to use tivo? Is tivo that much better than a standard DVR box? I was hoping it would be cheaper to have tivo than pay for a dish box in the long run. Any help would be appreciated.

Your DVR and Tivo are one in the same you will still have to pay for the dvr service inorder for the Tivo box to work, so it probably wouldn't save you any money to go buy one, since you got the Dish Network one for free.

I think you have to pay an extra monthly fee for Tivo. We have dish and just pay a monthly "rental" fee from our phone company. They take care of everything else.
