I don't think they are any better or worse than regular contacts. As long as you take care of them and clean them properly, they should be fine.

No. I (and many people) use contacts, not matter hard or soft. But you might have some problems with your eyes, like dry eyes. So I suggest that you have your eye doctor check your eyes to see if you need any special kind of contacts. Though contacts aren't bad for you, and your doctor will sure find your needs. And just to warn you, contacts will take some getting used to and make sure to follow your doctor's instruction with mistake. Trust me, eye doctors can be trusted. ^_^

The colored contacts you buy without a prescription are risky. Since they are not made to fit you eye they can scratch the cornea if they fit badly. Your eye Dr can give you your prescription and then you can order them at the Dr's or through various companies. As long as they are prescription they are very safe.

Yes he/she will. Colored lenses are only bad if you buy them from someone who ISN'T a professional eye doctor.

I don't know why they would be bad for you. I think I'd do what my eye doctor tells me to do.

I wear coloured lenses on a daily basis, mine are prescription lenses made for me, and they are perfectly comfortable to wear. Not everyone can wear contact lenses comfortably, so speak to your optician about this first.
